You
will be pardoned if you think that I am insane or whether I am blogging this
post while I am still under the hangover of Saturday night...
No
folks, I have not lost my wits, at least not as yet..
In
the current world of apps, anything is possible.
An
app, aptly titled 'WordLens', uses your phone's inbuilt camera to recognize
text that is viewed through the lens and then translates the text into English.
This
app is launched by Quest Visual and is an augmented reality application that
recognizes printed words using its optical character recognition (OCR)
capabilities and instantly translates these words.
It is also possible to use
the built-in dictionary to manually type in words that need to be translated.
It gives translations on the go and requires absolutely no network.
Here
is how it works
It is available for both Android
and iPhone, iPod and iPad.
On Google Play, there are both
the free demo and the full translation-competent versions of the application
and is available for 3 European languages i.e. Spanish, French and Italian.
