Two events…Two blasts…Two roaring successful events….and Smiling
Buddha……
India needs smiling Buddha more than Buddha needs India!!! After reading
the resounding success stories of recently concluded Indian Grand Prix at
Noida, India, I thought.
Each time Buddha smiled, India showcased her might, her power to the
world!!
When Buddha smiled for first time on May 18, 1974 at Pokharan, Indian
nuclear scientists backed by political willpower showed her nuclear prowess to
the world. ‘Smiling Buddha’ was the code name of the nuclear project conducted
by Indian Government and India made its entry in the select band of countries
having nuclear capabilities.
Smiling Buddha or should I say vrooming Buddha was at it again!!! This
time at Noida where India Inc. showed it’s administrative and financial
capabilities and India made her grand entry in select group of countries with
F1 racing circuit, 'Buddh International Circuit'.

Similarities are startling and so are the differences!! At first
instance, it was all government effort whereas the second event was all about
India Inc. to such an extent that the Sport minister was not even invited for
the event!!!! The grand show at F1 circuit also salvaged the national pride
that had taken some serious beating few months ago when India hosted (????) ‘Commonwealth Games’ at Indian capital New Delhi.
With the success of F1, the global perception also changed drastically.
All those who contemplated about the ability of India to plan and execute such
events with huge canvas were singing paeans of Indian capabilities.
I hope this is just the harbinger of the good things to come.
let buddha smile again & again!
